Best Movies Review Sites – Stream Film Cast, Trailers & Ratings

Movies Review Sites

You’ve heard it before… Everyone has an opinion, and they all stink like butts (well, that is the family-friendly version of the adage anyway). To some extent, this is correct. We are living in extraordinary times. Everyone believes they are an expert in every field. This is most likely due to the growth of social media, which has given everyone a megaphone and a stage to say whatever they want, regardless of how much they know about a certain topic. This is something that has irritated me as well. Today we will talk about the Movies Review Sites.

But I often wonder if this sense of delusion and self-importance was created by social media or if it has always been like way. My money would be on the latter if I were a betting man. Haven’t people always assumed that they understood what the best movies, music, TV shows, and other forms of entertainment were? The significant difference is that in the past, those chats were kept between friends and were kept secret. They are now open to the public for everybody to see.

Having said that, it is still true as ever that there are legitimate experts on subjects that publish their opinions for the general audience. However, they don’t appear in outraged tweets or Instagram posts about a movie or an episode of a popular TV show. Actual critics’ more informed and temperate comments can be found in very particular places on the internet. Sure, you’ll have to dig through the slush to locate them, but they’re there.

These viewpoints have found a home on reputable film review websites, of which there are many, believe it or not. On the other hand, there are just as many (really, probably more if we’re being honest) rubbish movie review sites on the internet, many of which attempt to pass themselves off as legitimate.

What is a good technique to tell the difference between the two?

Ads and clickbait I hate to break it to you, but if a movie review site contains a lot of shady adverts to the point where it’s severely hampering your reading experience, the reviews are probably not authored by knowledgeable professionals. Similarly, if a movie review site uses headlines like “IS THE AVENGERS THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE?” it is probably not a reputable movie review site (objectively erroneous and misguided opinion apart).

As I previously stated, the greatest movie review sites are full of well-written, intelligent, earnest, and knowledgeable evaluations of films, television series, and occasionally music, plays, and/or novels. Of course, we all have various ideas of what makes a site “the best” in its category, and my judgment is likely to differ from yours, but that’s fine; it all comes down to what you want to get out of a site. I, for one, am a firm believer in high-quality writing. I’m not interested in a movie review site if the articles aren’t entertaining, well-written, grammatically correct, and unique. I’ll prioritize this over any other site issue.

Others, on the other hand, may only want to see a decent enough review or a total rating and would like the site to be well-organized and simple to use. That’s all right! Everyone has an opinion… That said, my personal favorite movie review site isn’t the most popular, but I believe it offers the best unique content (more on that in a moment). IMDb, on the other hand, is by far the most popular movie review site. It is, without a doubt, a good one.

Who do you think are the best Movies Review Sites of all time?

So, the answer to this question will actually connect to what I just said regarding my own favorite movie review website. Because, coincidentally or not, my favorite review site and the greatest film reviewer of all time have the same name (coincidence? I don’t believe so…). To both of these queries, the answer is… drum roll, please… Roger Ebert, please! So rogerebert.com is my fave movie review site. Few sites have such high-quality reviews, a beautiful site design, and a collection of some of the best film criticism ever written.

Roger Ebert is most likely a popular response to this question. In this scenario, I do not believe I am an outlier. I mean, I’m sure you’ve heard of Roger Ebert before reading this review, haven’t you? Are there any other well-known film critics you can think of off the top of your head? … That is precisely my point. His reviews were far more than just that. They were literary masterpieces. And it’s because his evaluations didn’t focus solely on the film they were criticizing. His evaluations covered a wide range of topics, including the political climate of the period, society, and the human condition, while never losing sight of his responsibilities as a film critic.

Ebert was a true expert in his field. He wasn’t merely reacting to his erroneous or half-baked sentiments about the movies he evaluated. The man has a true understanding of what it takes to make a good film. He recognized the medium for what it is: an art form. And he viewed his reviews as if they were reflections of the work they were discussing. His assessments were artistic in the sense that a good film is likewise artistic. There aren’t many cinema critics today who can claim to have elevated the genre in the same way. Roger Ebert, rest in peace… you will be missed.

Is there anything more I can find on these sites except movie reviews?

A good movie review site, on the other hand, concentrates exclusively on, well, movie reviews. The finest movie review websites don’t stop there. They will frequently include TV reviews, op-ed articles, think pieces, entertainment news, music reviews, book reviews, and even theatre reviews, as I mentioned previously (depending on the site). Most movie review sites allow you to read their content at your leisure.

Thankfully, most movie review sites do not impose paywalls or article limits. However, the majority of these sites do contain advertisements. To be clear, the greatest movie review sites do not have a lot of advertisements. When it comes to quality, too many intrusive and dubious advertisements are never a good indicator. Premium memberships are offered on several of these sites, which remove advertisements and provide more content.

You might be able to sign up for a newsletter that keeps you informed about everything that’s going on, not just on the site but in the wider world of film. Trailers will be included in some of the packages. Some even provide you with original video content to watch in between evaluations. Although the majority of the information on these sites will be reviews of movies and TV series, there are a few other features and types of entertainment for you to enjoy as well.

I recently witnessed an incredible film… may I give it a review?

Nobody is going to stop you. If you think you have what it takes to be a movie critic, go ahead and try it. Every chance I get, I try to encourage folks to write. Give it a go! There’s no guarantee that your review will be published on a site like Indie Wire or Shudder, but it’s worth sending it out there and seeing what happens.

However, several of these sites, such as IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, provide user review areas where anyone with an account can rate and review a film. If you’ve always wanted to write a professional movie review but have never done it, these sites can be a wonderful place to start. I know I was slamming the whole ‘everyone has an opinion these days’ thing earlier, but I actually think it’s a great thing that anyone can express their thoughts on movies, TV series, and other media. After all, everyone has an opinion, and (nearly) all of them are important.

I’ve always been curious about the difference between an IMDb score and an IMDb ranking.

IMDb assigns two different grades to its films. There’s also the user score, which is a weighted average of all user reviews. Then there’s the official IMDb score, which is a sum of all expert reviews for a certain film. The rankings are simply the highest to lowest scores given to a film (typically within a specific genre) based on all significant expert reviews. That is an excellent question.

1. IMDb

The Internet Movie Database, or IMDb, is a database of movies. When it comes to cinema, television, video games, and streaming material, IMDb is the unofficial authority. In just a few clicks, you may obtain all the information you need on the cast, production team, personal biographies, storyline synopses, and general trivia. IMDb also provides professional, critical reviews as well as fan reviews and ratings, allowing you to get a sense of how a film or television show is received before you watch it.

There is no other website like it on the internet. Many cinephiles throughout the world use IMDb to brush up on their film and television trivia as well as discover new shows and movies. Whatever information you’re looking for, if it’s public, IMDb has it and makes it easier to find than ever before. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

2. The Movie Database

The Movie Database, according to an increasing number of film and television aficionados throughout the world, is the single best movie database on the internet. It may appear arrogant at first, but it appears that they have earned the right to proclaim themselves the movie database… this site has the potential to overtake IMDb in terms of popularity. And I, for one, am cheering for them to succeed.

The fact that it is community-oriented is one of the site’s most unique and beneficial aspects. This is, once again, a relatively lost potential that IMDb never really exploited. Anyone who has read a few of my reviews knows how much I enjoy it when websites combine social media components. I believe that the internet’s collaborative and communal nature is inherent in its design. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

3. Fandango

Fandango was created on April 27th, 2000, at the dawn of the twenty-first century. The service was a huge hit right once, and revenue sources continued to grow continuously for several years. However, as movie theatre chains became more familiar with the internet age, they began to provide their own online ticketing services. A new generation of moviegoers emerged as a result, who began printing their own tickets at home. Fandango took a significant hit as a result, but it was not enough to bring the company down.

For a movie ticketing website, this is almost a given. But what else does Fandango have to offer in terms of services and features? For starters, it’s a fantastic resource for staying up to current on what’s new and coming to cinemas shortly. As a result, you could easily utilize Fandango to keep up with current and upcoming films if you so wished. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

4. Yahoo! Movies

Even though the search is no longer its core goal, Yahoo has managed to find ways to keep itself helpful. In reality, many people use Yahoo Movies, which is a reputable, up-to-date, and vast collection of movie reviews and entertainment news. Despite the fact that there are numerous sources for entertainment news and film/television reviews, Yahoo remains a popular choice for those who want to stay up to date on their favorite actors, actresses, series, and films, as well as those who want to get first-hand information on upcoming films, seasons, and series. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

5. Meta Critic

Meta Critic is a name you may be familiar with. Perhaps you’ve used one of their ratings to help you decide which movie to see. Because Meta Critic does not publish ratings from a single reviewer, it is one of the most dependable authorities on media criticism.

Instead, when a new movie, TV series/season, album, or video game is released, this site gathers all trustworthy reviews available on the internet and converts them into a score out of 100 percent. Never before has it been so simple to receive a rapid and accurate picture of something’s vital success. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

6. IndieWire

On July 15th, 1996, IndieWire was started as “the daily news service for indie film.” It began as a free daily email newsletter by a small group of filmmakers and writers from New York City and Los Angeles, California: Eugene Hernandez, Mark Rabinowitz, Cheri Barner, Roberto A. Quezada, and Mark L. Feinsod, in the style of early AOL-based editorials.

If you’ve come to IndieWire, you’re probably looking for high-quality independent film reviews. They have a lot of them. However, IndieWire is much more than just a site dedicated to independent film reviews. For example, there is a rich news section where you can learn about the inner workings of the indie film industry. You can keep track of recent purchases, new and forthcoming releases, box office figures, and film festival schedules here. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

7. Blu-ray

Blu-ray News, Releases, and Announcements is a website dedicated to blu-ray news, releases, and announcements. The website provides movie and television fans with essential resources. They’ve recently extended to include 3-D movies, 3-D Blu-ray, video games, and other things of interest to cinema buffs.

Although it appears that the website sells blu-rays directly, all links to other websites where visitors can find the product are outsourced. Blu-ray discs not only include purchase links, but also a startling number of movie reviews.

8. Moviefone

Moviefone is an excellent television and film search engine. You can look for media and find out where to watch it on this page. Showtimes for local cinemas, cinema details, film reviews, advance tickets, and television programs may all be found on Moviefone. Fans of movies and television can use the website’s specialized search function to make their lives easier.

The website was created after a popular telephone service featuring Mr. Moviefone’s voice received a lot of positive feedback. Throughout its existence, the corporation was bought and sold multiple times. The phone service was discontinued in 2014, and the website was redesigned to appeal to a wider audience. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

9. Roger Ebert

Roger Ebert does not require an introduction. He was arguably the most well-known and respected cinema reviewer of all time, and he had a long and successful career spanning 70 years. Ebert earned renown as a historian, journalist scriptwriter, and novelist in addition to his reputation as a respected critic.

From 1967 until his death in 2013, Roger Ebert worked largely for the Chicago Sun-Times. During his time there, he rose to prominence as a prolific writer, noted for his candid, intellectual, well-informed, and thought-provoking film reviews. It is one of the best Movies Review Sites.

10. Slashfilm

Slashfilm is a popular entertainment website that dates back to the early 2000s. The website covers a wide range of topics, but the concentration is on nerdy movie news. Slashfilm is the brainchild of Peter Sciretted, who founded it in 2005. Thanks to the blogging team, the website flourished quickly.

Slashfilm used to publish a lot of celebrity news. They rapidly realized that the demand for geek culture was far higher, so they chose that path instead. The website provided distinct personal perspectives on new films and pop culture.

11.  What’s On Netflix

On their own, streaming services are difficult to navigate. What’s On Netflix is a fantastic website that allows people to search for TV series and movies on Netflix. The website first went up in 2013. The method they employ to organize all of their content is incredible.

The website offers its services to viewers all over the world for free. The United States is their primary emphasis. Their crew watches and sifts through all of Netflix’s titles in order to assist users to find new shows to watch.

12.  My Drama List

My Drama List is exactly what I’ve been looking for on all of the major movie review websites. It has a lot more to offer than movie reviews, rankings, and ratings (although it has all of that as well). My Drama List incorporates everything we love about the finest movie review sites, plus a little more. It’s a cross between Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, and your favorite social networking site.

Even better, My Drama List is completely dedicated to Asian films and television, which is fantastic news for fans of a genre of film that is all too frequently disregarded in mainstream society. Furthermore, by focusing just on Asian films and television, the My Drama List community is able to be closer than almost any other movie review site on the internet today.
